High Mass Air Flow

Kearsley Airways Ltd are proud to announce the new High Mass Air Flow Facility is now complete and operational.

After purchasing a similar facility from the MOD in South Wales, Kearsley engineers have designed and built a test rig which will enable pneumatic components from a wide variety of aircraft platforms to be maintained and tested at our Stansted Airport site.

Specification:-
Max Sustained Pressure= 13 bar
Max Sustained Flow= 80lb/min
Max Temperature= 300°C

Air is generated by two diesel compressors and fed into a receiver. After passing through a desiccant dryer, to remove any moisture, the air passes through a turbine flow meter and control valve. If required, the temperature can then be increased using an electric heater up to 300°C as called for within the relevant test procedures.

The air then passes through the test bed, whereupon components are fitted and piped as close to on aircraft conditions as possible.

Air flow is governed by a flow control valve and then expelled via a silencer. A vacuum pump provides the capability to vacate atmospheric chambers on some components to simulate operation at altitudes up to 45,000 feet.

From the outset, this facility was purposely not aimed at any one particular component type or group. If a component is identified which falls within these specifications, the test rig can be adapted to accommodate them.
